TOF photoelectric welding workpiece detection

In the automatic welding production line, it is crucial to accurately and quickly detect whether the welding workpiece is installed with pins. This can not only improve production efficiency, but also avoid welding quality problems caused by misoperation. Therefore, an efficient and accurate detection method is needed to determine whether the welding workpiece is installed with pins.

TOF photoelectric sensors are ideal for such application scenarios due to their high precision, long-distance detection capabilities, and unaffected by the color and material of the workpiece. This issue will share the application of Meiji Sensing's photoelectric sensors in detecting the presence of welding workpieces.

 

Scenario requirements

 

Sensors need to be installed on the robot arm to detect whether the welded workpiece has pins. When a pin is detected, a signal is triggered immediately to drive the welding gun on the robot arm to perform welding

 

1. The workpiece is fixed by a pin (the workpiece and the pin are 1 cm apart), and the pin trigger signal cannot be mistakenly detected

 

2. The position of the workpiece to be detected is an arc surface, and ordinary sensors will be affected by the arc angle

 

3. The workpiece to be detected is black-gray, and the pin is silver-white. The silver-white reflectivity is stronger than black-gray

 

4. The detection distance is about 15 cm

1. Select a photoelectric sensor based on the TOF detection principle, which emits a pulsed laser beam and measures the time difference from the emission to the reflection of the beam by the object and then returns to the sensor receiving chip. The distance of the object to be measured is calculated by multiplying this time difference by the speed of light divided by 2. In this scenario of detecting welded workpieces, the TOF sensor is set to detect a specific distance range, which corresponds to the position when the pin exists.

2. It can provide high-precision distance measurement to ensure accurate detection of the presence of the pin.

3. The sensor is not affected by the state/color of the detected object and has good detection stability

4. The sensor comes with a teaching button, which can easily adjust the detection distance with one click without tedious debugging

5. Long-distance detection: Compared with traditional photoelectric sensors, TOF sensors have a longer detection distance and are suitable for welding parts of various sizes.
